When COVID first reared it's ugly head, patients became aware of how a virus could enter thru the eye and the importance of eye protection. But there is more to eye protection. It is essential in the workplace.
Our Marina Del Rey Optometry team had the pleasure of serving the LA community with Share a Meal prior to the COVID-19 crisis.
Share A Meal is an amazing organization that comes together 5 days a week at different locations in LA to serve the homeless with basic necessities and positive energy.
In preparation for the event, our Marina Del Rey optometry team created toiletry kits including hygiene supplies donated by Assil Eye Institute and our peers. We also raised $108 from glasses adjustment donations with all proceeds given directly to the Share A Meal organization, thanks to our lovely patients!
We joined other Share A Meal volunteers as we rolled homeade burritos at their mobile kitchen food truck. Afterwards, we took the fresh hot food and water along with everyone’s donated items to the Venice Beach boardwalk where we collectively handed the items to the homeless community and shared some uplifting words and smiles.
Our experience with Share A Meal has inspired our MDR team to continue to support the organization. We appreciate our patient’s contributions and will accept any donations to give directly to Share A Meal to impact those in need.
